X-Site Grill and Bistro

Having had a somewhat miserable lunch this past Tuesday, I decided on a spot that would be a guaranteed good meal. I’ve been visiting X-Site for several years and have always been amazed at the value and consistent quality. There is no other place (that I’m aware of) that serves up such sizable, delicious meals at such rock-bottom prices.

Every single one of these choices is a bargain. Since my first visit, about five years ago, the prices have stayed at the unbelievable price of $4.95. The only change in all that time has been the requirement of a beverage purchase. Speaking of beverages, the daily liquor specials are some of lowest prices in town. Who in the hell sells Double Martinis for $4.50? It’s just unheard of.

Of all the lunch specials, the one that really stands out is the Chicken Souvlaki.

This really is an enormous amount of food. They could easily get away with a smaller portion at a higher price. The sheer volume blows away all competitors and the fresh, quality ingredients make it stand out as one of best in the area. The Caesar Salad is crisp, lathered in a very garlicky dressing. The red-skinned potatoes are tender and nicely seasoned. The pita crunchy and soft inside. House-made tzatziki,  lemony with cucumber and lots of garlic (an extra portion is always free). The rice, however, is a bit ordinary but really nothing to complain about. The topper is the large, juicy skewer of perfectly cooked chicken. A phenomenal plate of food at a phenomenal price.

If you ever find yourself cruising along Hastings in North Burnaby with a few toonies and a big appetite, X-Site is definitely one of your best choices.

Glad to see you also enjoyed this. Some said this is sub par food but where else can you get such food at this price? We enjoyed it but the place is to far from us. We normally go to LA in Richmond. The food is identical but X-site ambiance is way better.

It truly is one of the best values around. Everything about this spot is well above par, based on the price points. If I happen to be working in the area it’s always a lunchtime consideration.

  3. The food is never going to win any awards, but for the prices they charge, I’m gonna eat it!
